Good Starting Point for ASP.NET (FRAMEWORK) Development
Being an experienced developer, this book was a little too basic for me; however it still covered items that I needed to familiarize my self with in my transition form asp to asp.net. The examples in this book were well written and every step was explained. I actually like the way the examples are set up in this book better then the next book in this series (Professional ASP.Net 1.0). Unlike other books I have read in the past, EVERY EXAMPLE PROGRAMM IN THIS BOOK WORKED! I would highly recommend this book to any one who is interested in developing in ASP.NET.

Nice Intro as well as a refresher for the well rounded pro
I thought that this book provided exactly what the title says. If you've been down this path before(meaning, having to pick up a book to get you up to speed with a project) then this is a good place to start, following up with "Professional ASP.NET" and "Professional VB.NET", both Wrox titles as well. For those who complain about theory, go to your local university and enroll in a class. For those who need bottomline results, like most of the "run and gun" type positions that most techies have then this is it. Even if you've done ASP or VB before and have stepped away from it for awhile, this book is a great refresher. Gone are the days of specializing technically in one or two areas. Most of us have to be all things to all people and it is a pleasure to be able to have a goto resource when we have to revisit or learn a new technology. Wrox has been and still is that all important resource. By the way, the typos aren't that bad, anf if that's all you can focus on, then no book can help you.

Helpful introduction to web building using .NET
Beginning ASP.NET using VB.NET by Wrox is a very helpful introduction to web building using the .NET technology. I have been building web sites using standard ASP for 5 years. I am finding this book (I'm half way through it) to be a great place to start moving on to ASP.NET. It is easy to read. New technical concepts are explained without the authors trying to impress you with techno-babble. The book lays a good foundation and then builds on that. I recommend it.
